RECENT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM SCR
Thank you for reaching out and for sharing your concerns regarding pool passes.
We recognize that property owners, rental guests, and resort guests all play an important role in the overall activity at Shanty Creek. Even when guests are not staying directly at the resort, many still spend money on skiing, tubing, golf, food and beverage, chairlift rides, and other resort amenities. That value is understood and appreciated.
The pool pass structure has been reviewed with a focus on operating expenses, deferred maintenance, capacity, guest experience, and the distinction between personal owner use and commercial use associated with short-term rentals. The pools have experienced increased volume and wear over time, and the cost of operating and maintaining them has continued to rise. These costs include staffing, utilities, insurance, repairs, chemicals, equipment, capacity management, and future capital improvements.
Prior pricing did not fully reflect the actual cost of operating the pools or the added impact of increased use. To help address that gap while giving owners and commercial rental operators time to adjust, the pool pass structure will be phased in over three years.
Personal owner use:
2026: $800
2027: $1,000
2028: $1,200
Commercial short-term rental use:
2026: $2,800
2027: $3,800
2028: $4,800
Even with this phased increase, the proposed structure remains significantly below surrounding resort access prices and related fee structures. The goal is to move toward a more sustainable model while still giving owners and commercial rental operators time to adjust.
We understand this is a meaningful change from past practice, and we recognize why owners are asking questions. At the same time, the pools cannot continue to operate long term without a structure that better supports the true cost of use, maintenance, and reinvestment.
This approach is intended to help keep the pools operating as part of the destination resort experience for owners, guests, and future generations.
Thank you again for reaching out and for continuing to support Shanty Creek.
